In my own experience, I have found there to be a very clear connection between the ways in which we can improve our individual lives on the whole, and the ways in which we take care of our bodies. With that at the forefront of my business plan, I am really excited to combine my love of feeding people, which I find to be one of the most pure and simple joys in life, with the ability to help people achieve their goals.

Paleo is a fairly difficult lifestyle to jump into, particularly if you’re not interested in cooking; my aim is to create a service wherein I can support people on their journey to a happier and healthier lifestyle. I want Strong Table to make it easier for you to feel great about what you're eating!

The crossfit-paleo connection is an important one and my perspective on the relationship between food, health and wellbeing has been enhanced since starting crossfit. I had always wanted to be one of those people who needed to work out and over the years I tried all kinds of routines but inevitably, I would fall off the wagon. The magical combination of being dynamic, challenging, community-oriented and functional is what hooked me to crossfit. It's been one of the best things that I've done for myself physically and mentally, and I am so appreciative of all of the people who have come into my life as a result.

I was very reluctant to try eating paleo (because it sounds like the most un-fun, terrible, restrictive diet ever) but after hearing so many people sing its praises, curiosity got the best of me and I had to give it a try. Imagine my surprise when I loved it! There was a dramatic shift in my energy levels, an increase in my strength abilities, a decrease in recovery time, and overall - I just felt better. All of the sudden, my decisions at mealtime were based on what was going to make me feel the best after eating. Those momentary cravings for bread and pasta and sugar became fewer and more far between, and I liked it! That isn't to say that I'll never eat pizza again - far from it. Balance is very important to me and overall I eat a mostly paleo diet but when I want to have some Ben and Jerry's, I have some. The trick for me, is that those cravings have been replaced with an overriding desire to feel good and be strong, so they're just not as tempting as they once were.

I came to all of this via the little organic farm in Mendocino County where I grew up. I moved to the East Coast to attend Wheaton College, and then made my way to Nantucket Island where I worked as a florist for several seasons. After travels and jobs and plenty of moves, the West coast finally won me back and I enrolled at the California Culinary Academy here in San Francisco. From there I landed an awesome internship-turned-job at Hands On Gourmet where I worked between the kitchen and the office for two and a half magical years
